It’s official! VUMC employees can now donate flex paid time off (flexPTO) directly to colleagues in need. This new benefit was created as the result of feedback HR received from our employees during focus groups last spring. Called VUMC flexPTO Donate, the program allows any employee to directly donate flexPTO to a specific employee who is experiencing a hardship due to a qualifying serious personal or family medical situation. They must also be eligible to receive the donated flexPTO under this program.

Beginning Dec. 1, 2018, VUMC employees will have access to additional services through Care.com, including: In-center backup care Now VUMC employees receive up to 20 days (per fiscal year — July 1 through June 30) of subsidized backup childcare at home or at local, vetted childcare centers. The vumc.care.com portal includes a dashboard to show you how many days of backup care you have used.

The VUMC Sitter Service has been revamped to help address the childcare needs of VUMC employees. The Sitter Service is an online portal that connects VUMC employees with hundreds of Vanderbilt University students and employees available for babysitting. Employees can search for a sitter based on availability, experience, age, gender or location.  Get Started

Vanderbilt University Medical recently hired a program manager for VUMC Child and Family Services to help coordinate services and resources for VUMC parents. Christina Alsup received her bachelor’s degree in Applied Arts from Central Michigan University. Before joining VUMC, she worked in the hospitality industry managing customer relationships through elevated experiences.

With the cost of prescription drugs continually increasing, it pays to shop around. Navitus Health Solutions, which manages the VUMC pharmacy benefit, has released a new online price tool that will help you search for retailers that offer the lowest prescription drug prices. Here’s how it works: 

Beginning April 1, 2018, members of the VUMC Health Plan will be able to purchase 90-day prescription refills at all eligible pharmacies, such as Walgreens, CVS, Kroger, Publix, Walmart and Costco. Currently, only VUMC pharmacies can fill a 90-day prescription. The 90-day refill option means fewer trips to the pharmacy. The copays and maximums will be three times the 30-day copay and maximum rate for the health plan tier in which you are enrolled. See below for a sample price comparison. VUMC Learning and Development has updated the Skillsoft on-demand learning course offerings to include IT and project management professional (PMP) content for job roles requiring these specialized skills.
