Nominations are open for the 2024 VUMC Administrative Professionals Award. The award is presented each year typically during national Administrative Professionals Week and highlights the contribution of the Medical Center’s administrative professionals.

To manage your flexible spending account (FSA) account, you will need to log in to the WEX FSA portal at https://www.myfsaexpress.com/.  The online portal provides you a single access point for your account, where you can process and view claims and find resources to manage your FSA.

As healthcare professionals, we know that in emergency situations, every second counts. That’s why it’s crucial that our staff is equipped with the latest knowledge and skills to recognize and respond to patient emergencies.

Vanderbilt Medical Center has completed and submitted the Form 5500 in compliance under Title I and Title IV of the ERISA and under the Internal Revenue Code for all self-funded benefit plans offered at VUMC.     Employees can review the Summary Annual Reports (SAR) that provide a summary of the financial information contained on the Form 5500 and a statement of the right to receive an annual report. You can find the Summary Annual Reports on the HR website.

This summer, VUMC will host summer internship programs for veterans and high school students. The Hiring Heroes, Veterans Fellowship Internship program allows veterans to gain industry-specific skills, professional networks, and potentially secure post-service employment. It provides an opportunity for military personnel to explore different industries, enhancing their job readiness.

Over the past few weeks, the VUMC Talent Acquisition team has been conducting an organization-wide Hiring Manager and New Hire Assessment of the Recruitment Team survey.  We are conducting this brief, four-minute survey in order to get a better understanding of your satisfaction with the recruitment process and level of customer service you receive from your recruiting partners.

Applications are open for the Medical Assistant Program. The next cohort is scheduled to start January 22, 2024.  Application deadline is November 30,2023

Vanderbilt University Medical Center is seeking students, ages 16-20 to enroll in our Nursing Explorer program, which begins in August and runs through March 24. The Nursing Explorer program helps introduce students to career pathways in nursing through a series of monthly sessions. Participants will tour several VUMC facilities, including the School of Nursing and Skills and Simulation Lab, LifeFlight and Flight Communications and the Labor & Delivery department. Students also learn about patient privacy laws and confidentiality as well as cardiac research.

Don’t forget, the deadline for all staff, including nursing, to complete self-evaluations for the annual review process is Aug. 14. Starting Aug. 15, all managers will begin their part of the evaluation process. The deadline to complete all evaluations is Oct. 10.

The annual evaluation process for fiscal year 2023 starts today in Workday. The system is now available and ready for staff to begin their self-evaluation and input FY23 goals into the system.
